Daviess County Parks & Recreation will present Family & Farm Agriculture Day this Saturday, July 26, at Panther Creek Park in Owensboro.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with free admission and parking available at the park’s south entrance, accessible via Highway 81 and Wayne Bridge Road.
Designed to celebrate the area’s rich agricultural heritage, the event emphasizes agricultural education and community involvement.
Guests can explore a variety of antique and modern farm equipment on display, as well as informative exhibits focused on tractor safety, grain bin awareness, row crop production, and livestock care.
A highlight of the day will be the Mobile Dairy Classroom, brought by the Southwest/Southland Dairy Farmers. This 32-foot trailer includes a fully functional milking parlor and a live Jersey cow, offering live demonstrations and discussions on dairy production and food safety.
Local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters will host the popular “Ag Day Olympics,” where students will compete in agricultural-themed games such as the hay bale toss and watermelon throw.
Attendees will also have access to free health screenings and educational materials on the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Raising Hope initiative, which supports mental health and wellness in rural communities.
Food and refreshments will be available from J’s Good Grub and Chaney’s Dairy Barn, while children can enjoy free inflatable attractions sponsored by the Daviess County Farm Bureau.
A wide range of local organizations will be on hand to provide interactive displays and information, including:
- Daviess County Cooperative Extension (gardening, food preservation)
- Green Valley Beekeepers Association (beekeeping education)
- Kentucky Soybean Board (soybean crop information)
- H&R Agri-Power and Ohio Valley Ag (farm equipment displays)
