Hill view farm - leading cattle producer in Daviess County

By Blake Jackson

Daviess County, a significant agricultural center in Kentucky, boasts substantial beef, poultry, and pork production annually. Among its prominent cattle producers is Hill View Farm, managed by Jim Gilles and his father.

This farm stands out for raising around 250 cattle annually, a notably higher figure compared to the county's average producer, who typically manages about 20 heads.

The county's collective cattle production amounts to over 8,000 heads yearly, translating to approximately 182,000 burgers annually from Hill View Farm alone. Notably, Hill View Farm also allocates several hundred pounds of beef for a direct-to-consumer product line, showcasing a commitment to diversifying its offerings and engaging with local consumers. With millions of pounds of meat generated annually, Daviess County solidifies its status as a key contributor to Kentucky's agricultural landscape, sustaining both local economies and culinary industries.
