Kentucky grants up to $1,075 for pet

By Blake Jackson

Kentucky county and metropolitan governments are invited to apply for competitive grants supporting spay and neuter dogs and cats procedures. Grant awards of up to $1,075 will be allocated based on program proposals. Applications and further details can be found on the Kentucky Animal Control Advisory Board website (kyspayneuter.com) under "Resources."

Collaboration with non-profit organizations is encouraged to optimize resource utilization. Applicants are advised to secure the most cost-effective procedures possible, as grant amounts will be partially determined by these anticipated costs.

Completed applications with all supporting documentation must be submitted electronically to michael.grant@ky.gov by July 15th. Faxed or mailed applications will not be accepted.

Funding for this initiative is derived from sales of Kentucky's spay/neuter license plates. The Board strongly encourages residents to consider purchasing these plates during vehicle registration.

The Kentucky Animal Control Advisory Board, established in 1998 by the Kentucky General Assembly, serves in an advisory capacity to the Commissioner of Agriculture on animal control matters.

Additionally, the Board allocates animal care and control funds, establishes shelter standards, and develops training programs. It operates under the administrative umbrella of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
