Seven Kentucky State University (KSU) students made a strong impression at the Farm Credit Mid-America Success Program for MANRRS Leaders.
This two-day professional development event, held in Louisville, KY, brought together student representatives from Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) chapters at four universities: KSU, the University of Kentucky, Tennessee State University, and Purdue University.
The program provided students with valuable opportunities to develop professionally through workshops and seminars, network with industry leaders and Farm Credit Mid-America professionals, participate in panel discussions, and connect with fellow MANRRS students.
KSU students shared their key takeaways from the event:
- "My biggest takeaway from this event is that networking is crucial," said Alecia Daniels, a sophomore majoring in Environmental Systems. "The real highlight was connecting with other attendees and building professional and friendly relationships with our peers."
- "On this trip, I learned about more jobs and internships that I didn't even know were out there," said Jade McCargo, a sophomore majoring in Agricultural Business. "Farm Credit Mid-America did a great job in broadening my perspective!"
- "The biggest takeaway for me was the importance of listening to the perspectives of other people," said Jaiya McCargo, a sophomore majoring in Environmental Systems and Sciences. "You can gain so much traction and advice that will help you excel."
The KSU student participants were Alecia Daniels, Sienna Stewart, Jade McCargo, Eric Taylor, Jaiya McCargo, Jasin Burnam, and Javan Crute. They were prepared for the event by KSU faculty Kristel Smith and Darius Adamson.
“Their engagement and professionalism were truly commendable and left a lasting impression,” said TJ Jamerson, Senior HR Relationship Manager for Farm Credit Mid-America. “Their active participation and insightful contributions during the event not only highlighted their dedication but also positively represented your esteemed University.”
