KSU Senior to Participate in TMCF Leadership Institute

Senior biology major Michael McLeod was recently selected to participate in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) 22nd annual Leadership Institute. The four-day leadership development conference will take place Sept. 28-Oct. 1 in New York City, and is designed for students with leadership potential who want to build on their skill sets.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to network with multiple Fortune 500 companies, graduate programs, and my peers from across the country," expressed Michael. "The skills and connections that I will make here will allow me to elevate myself professionally."

To prepare for the conference, Michael must complete weekly pre-conference assignments and participate in leadership seminars.

Associate Professor of chemistry Dr. Scott Wicker, who serves as Michael's research advisor, shares that this opportunity will allow Michael to further establish himself as a leader.

"The leadership conference is perfect timing and opportunity for Michael in his senior year," said Dr. Wicker. "When he comes back from the conference, he will be expected to utilize these enhanced competencies to effectively lead as the national student president for Beta Kappa Chi, student ambassador for Base 11, and a Whitney M. Young Jr. honors scholar."
