Natasha Craft, a teacher at Pulaski Elementary, has been honored with the 2023 Excellence in Ag Literacy Award by Kentucky Farm Bureau. Recognizing educators excelling in incorporating agricultural concepts into academic studies, Craft's innovative contributions stood out. She initiated Pulaski County's inaugural Camp Invention, a dynamic summer camp emphasizing engineering and business trades. The camp, attracting 92 students, marked a significant achievement.
Craft's dedication extended beyond organizing the camp; she spent a year securing funding to ensure financial inclusivity for all students. Partnering with Pulaski County Farm Bureau, financial assistance was provided for those in need. Pulaski Elementary Principal Angela Adkins highlighted the importance of exposing students to agriculture's diverse opportunities, considering the region's many working farms.
In acknowledgment of her impactful work, Craft will receive a $500 award and an all-expense-paid trip to the National Ag in the Classroom Conference, where she will represent Kentucky. This accolade reflects Craft's commitment to agricultural literacy and her innovative approach to educating students on the significance of agriculture in their lives.
