Vote for Kentucky Daisy in farm dog of the year contest

Vote for Kentucky Daisy in farm dog of the year contest

By Blake Jackson

Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is proud to announce that a rescued dog named Daisy is a finalist for the prestigious People's Choice Pup award in the American Farm Bureau Federation's 2024 Farm Dog of the Year Competition!

Daisy, a charming mix of breeds, may have found her forever home with Shelby and Lora Ennis of Elizabethtown, but her heroic instincts shine through. The Ennis family noticed Daisy's protective nature after Lora suffered a fall at home.

“When Lora came home from the hospital, she was so weak and stayed sitting in her chair for the next two days, but Daisy was extremely quiet around her,” Shelby Ennis said. “She apparently understood what was going on and that Lora needed to rest.”

This wasn't Daisy's only act of heroism. During a walk on a nature trail, Daisy discovered someone distress under some bushes. “It’s hard to tell how long he would have been there had Daisy not found him,” said Shelby Ennis. Thanks to Daisy's keen awareness, help arrived quickly.

News of Daisy's bravery spread, earning her the nickname "Daisy the Rescuer." Now, the public has a chance to recognize her remarkable spirit.  People can vote for Daisy online at kyfb.com/Vote4Daisy until November 8th. The winner will be announced in January.
