The 145th St. Jerome Fancy Farm Picnic, a long-standing tradition in Kentucky, will welcome Ashli Watts, president and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, as its emcee for the event’s political speaking segment.
Organizers announced Watts as the master of ceremonies, citing her extensive experience in business leadership and public policy as ideal for moderating the popular gathering.
The annual event, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “largest one-day picnic,” is known for its unique blend of politics and community, drawing key state leaders to Fancy Farm in western Kentucky.
Watts has served as a prominent lobbyist and played a role in key Kentucky legislation on felony expungement, tax reform, and right-to-work laws. Her knowledge and public speaking experience make her well suited to lead this year’s political conversations.
“Ashli’s experience and poise make her the ideal choice to guide this year’s political speaking,” said Picnic Political Chairman Steven Elder. “Her leadership and deep understanding of Kentucky’s political landscape will bring energy, fairness, and insight to this year’s event.”
Watts follows a tradition of rotating emcees, which previously included a variety of political and neutral figures. Last year, Lexington Catholic priest Father Jim Sichko brought bipartisan humour and commentary to the role.
The Fancy Farm Picnic is not only a platform for political speech but also a fundraiser for St. Jerome Catholic Church. This year’s event will be held on August 2, and is expected to continue drawing large crowds and national attention, keeping its reputation as a must-attend Kentucky political event.
