Kentucky Proud, in collaboration with the Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (KCARD) and the University of Kentucky’s MarketReady Producer Training Program, is offering a Retail Readiness workshop to help Kentucky agricultural producers expand their market reach.
“We are excited to offer this one-day workshop for Kentucky agriculture producers,” Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell said. “Agriculture drives economic growth, and helping our producers expand their market opportunities benefits not only them but the entire state. Creating strong pathways for success ensures a thriving future for Kentucky agriculture.”
The workshop, scheduled for March 25th in Elizabethtown from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST, will provide producers with insights into marketing trends, funding opportunities, and practical advice from local retailers.
The event will feature peer-to-peer panels, discussions, product reviews, and hands-on workshops focused on marketing plan development and elevator pitch creation.
Designed for emerging producers who have found success in direct sales and are considering retail or wholesale opportunities, the workshop will offer valuable guidance.
Attendees will hear from successful agricultural producers who have navigated the retail landscape and implemented effective marketing strategies.
Retail community representatives will share insights on preferred local products, vendor onboarding, and safety certifications.
Participants can submit up to three products for anonymous review by mass retailers, specialty retailers, and farm retail markets, receiving feedback on marketability and attractiveness.
Participants will leave the workshop equipped with a tailored marketing plan and a compelling elevator pitch to guide their business growth.
The workshop, held at the Hardin County Extension Office, includes lunch and costs $15. Registration is available online.
