Kentucky offers online pesticide license testing

Kentucky offers online pesticide license testing

By Blake Jackson

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) is modernizing its pesticide applicator licensure program by offering an online testing option alongside the traditional in-person format.

"This new online option provides more flexibility for those seeking a pesticide applicator license," said Commissioner Shell. The program, administered by KDA, issues nearly 4,600 licenses annually.

The online platform, developed in partnership with Everblue Training Institute, allows candidates to take exams 24/7, catering to busy schedules. Everblue manages testing programs in multiple states and offers a secure, accredited system.

"This collaboration aims to make government services more efficient and responsive for Kentucky residents," said Lucas Yanetsko of Everblue. "It's about leveraging technology to improve citizen interaction with government institutions."

Currently, online testing is available for twelve pesticide application categories. Individuals seeking commercial or non-commercial pesticide applicator licenses in Kentucky must be licensed. Registration for online exams can be done through the KDA's Environmental Services Division portal.

While the online option offers convenience, in-person testing will still be available. However, the number of testing locations and dates will be reduced.

Candidates taking the online exam will receive immediate provisional scores. These scores are not final until the exam is proctored and submitted to the KDA. Official results will be emailed within five business days.

The Environmental Services Division has a list of requirements and other need-to-know-items for online testing at: https://www.kyagr.com/consumer/pesticide-training-and-testing.html.
