Morehead State University's Department of Agricultural Sciences is celebrating Kyleigh Penn, an agricultural education major from Frankfort, for her selection as one of four Kentucky Teach Ag Ambassadors.
This program, coordinated by the Kentucky Department of Education, recognizes exceptional students with a passion for agricultural education and a commitment to inspiring future agriculture teachers.
As a Teach Ag Ambassador for the upcoming year, Penn will connect with high school students statewide to promote the significance of agricultural education.
"I applied for this ambassadorship because of my deep passion for agriculture and teaching. I believe there is no better internship for me than the opportunity to share my love for agriculture with others," Penn stated. "This program aligns perfectly with my career goals, and I am excited to represent the future of agricultural education."
Through school visits, events, and social media, she will advocate for Kentucky's agriculture programs and encourage students to consider careers in agricultural education.
Penn's responsibilities include advocating at an FFA camp, facilitating a #TEACHAG workshop at the Kentucky FFA State Convention, and assisting with the Teach Ag booth and signing event at the convention.
"Kyleigh's dedication to agriculture and her passion for teaching make her an excellent representative for this program," said Shelby Roberts, MSU's agricultural education program coordinator. "Her leadership will have a lasting impact on students considering a future in agricultural education."
Penn expressed her excitement about networking with fellow agriculture educators and noted the opportunity felt like a "full circle moment."
"I look forward to the opportunity to make new friends and collaborators along the way," she said. "I am truly grateful to be part of this program with Kentucky FFA, as I was actively involved in Kentucky FFA throughout high school, and being part of this initiative feels like a natural extension of my journey in agricultural education."
Morehead State University's Agricultural Education program is dedicated to preparing students for leadership in agricultural instruction, extension services, and agribusiness training.
Penn's selection as a Teach Ag Ambassador underscores the program's commitment to developing skilled and enthusiastic educators who will shape the future of agriculture.
