Learn Organic Farming at Hollow Oak Field Day Event

By Blake Jackson

Hollow Oak Farm in Berry, Kentucky, will host an OAK Field Day on May 19, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. ET, offering an educational experience for new, aspiring, and organically curious farmers.

Owned by first-generation farmers Julie and Jeremiah Muth, the farm is built on a diversified model that includes grass-finished beef, pastured pork and poultry, fresh produce, and value-added products.

Their approach highlights how diversification can strengthen resilience and create multiple income streams for small-scale operations.

During the event, the Muths will share their journey of developing a sustainable farm business from the ground up. They will discuss the realities of managing multiple enterprises, including balancing passion with profitability, handling workloads within a small team, and avoiding burnout while expanding operations.

Attendees will also learn about the farm’s progress toward organic certification and how thoughtful marketing decisions contribute to long-term success.

Participants will tour key areas of the farm, including high tunnels, market gardens, and rotational grazing systems for livestock.

The event is supported by the USDA’s Midwest Transition to Organic Partnership Program and the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, free registration required to attend.
