Murray State University and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture are partnering to offer a new Master of Science in Economic Development with a focus on agriculture. This program combines Murray State's expertise in economic development with the agricultural knowledge of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
The new degree program is designed to address the growing need for professionals who can help advance Kentucky's agricultural industry. Agriculture is a major economic driver in the state, and the value-added sector, which takes raw agricultural products and transforms them into higher-value goods, has significant potential for further growth.
The Master of Science in Economic Development with an agriculture track will equip graduates with the skills and knowledge they need to support this growth. Students will learn about economic development strategies, business development, and the unique challenges and opportunities facing Kentucky's agricultural sector.
The program will benefit from the resources of both Murray State University and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Murray State's Hutson School of Agriculture offers a variety of agricultural programs and hands-on learning opportunities. The Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business is a highly accredited business school that provides students with a strong foundation in business principles.
In addition to the academic program, the partnership will also develop outreach programs to support the agricultural industry in Kentucky. These programs may include internships, mentorships, and training programs for farmers and agribusiness professionals.
The new partnership and degree program are seen as a way to strengthen Kentucky's agricultural industry and create new economic opportunities in the state. Murray State University, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and industry leaders all believe that this program will play a vital role in the future of Kentucky's agriculture sector.
