Kentucky wheat producers looking to stay ahead of the curve won't want to miss Wheat Field Day 2024! This annual event, hosted by the University of Kentucky, offers a chance to learn about the latest research and trends in wheat production.
Held on May 14th at the UK Research Education Center in Princeton, the day will be packed with informative sessions. Experts will discuss topics like:
- Emerging carbon markets: Could these markets present new opportunities for Kentucky wheat growers?
- The latest wheat disease threats and how to combat them.
- Wheat breeding techniques and how new varieties are developed.
- Fertilization strategies for optimal wheat yields.
- Controlling ryegrass in wheat fields.
- Understanding market trends to make informed decisions about selling your wheat.
The event also includes a walk-through of a wheat variety trial, allowing you to see different varieties firsthand and learn how to select those with desirable traits for your farm.
Registration opens at 8 am, with the program starting at 9 am. Certified crop advisors and pesticide applicators can earn continuing education credits by attending.
