Kentucky State Assists Students with Financial Debt



Kentucky State University continues to help alleviate the financial burden for students with financial needs and in good academic standing. Kentucky State University officials aided students in the Fall of 2022 and Spring of 2023 with outstanding tuition and fee balances owed to the institution. Debt forgiveness in the Fall totaled $410, 379, assisting 231 students, and the Spring totaled $917,919, helping 403 students.

Students with a GPA of 3.5 or above received 100 percent debt forgiveness. Students with GPAs less than 3.5 received debt forgiveness based on one of the following four tiers:

Tier 1: Balance of $1,000 or less, 100% debt forgiveness

Tier 2: Balance of $1,001-$2,500, 90% debt forgiveness

Tier 3: Balance of $2,501-$5,000, 85% debt forgiveness

Tier 4: Balance of $5,001 or above, 80% debt forgiveness

The University utilized the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to provide emergency financial aid grants to assist students with financial needs.
