KY crop scouting competition for high schoolers

KY crop scouting competition for high schoolers

By Blake Jackson

Calling all future Kentucky farmers! Sharpen your agronomic skills and get hands-on experience at the University of Kentucky's Crop Scouting Competition on July 25th. This is your chance to compete alongside other high school students in a fun and educational event.

Assemble your team of 4-6 classmates and find an enthusiastic adult leader, like an agriculture teacher, FFA leader, or extension agent, to guide you. Be one of the first 10 teams to register and you'll receive study materials packed with valuable knowledge about corn, soybeans, and tobacco.

The competition itself will be an interactive field day where you'll put your studying to the test through real-world challenges. Not only will you gain practical experience in crop scouting, but the top 3 teams will also win cash prizes! And for the ultimate champion, there's the chance to represent Kentucky at the National Crop Scouting Competition this fall.

This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your agricultural knowledge, work as a team, and gain valuable recognition. Those that plan to organize a team must register by April 5, 2024 at https://forms.gle/Af6qMhz25u7xqZAt6.
