Financial Aid for Kentucky Farms

Financial Aid for Kentucky Farms

By Blake Jackson

Farmers in Kentucky who suffered property damage due to excessive rain and flooding from February 14–18, 2025, may be eligible for financial assistance through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA).

The Physical Loss Loan program provides funding to help producers repair or replace essential agricultural property damaged or destroyed in the disaster.

These loans cover losses affecting farm buildings, equipment, fixtures to real estate, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut trees, as well as harvested or stored crops and hay. Farmers in both primary and contiguous counties designated for disaster assistance can apply.

The primary Kentucky counties eligible for assistance include Allen, Barron, Carroll, Edmonson, Henry, Metcalfe, Monroe, and Warren.

Additionally, farmers in the contiguous counties of Adair, Butler, Cumberland, Franklin, Gallatin, Grayson, Green, Hart, Logan, Oldham, Owen, Shelby, Simpson, and Trimble are also eligible to apply.

The application deadline for these loans is November 18, 2025. To determine eligibility and explore available assistance programs, farmers can use resources such as the Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool, Disaster Assistance-at-a-Glance fact sheet, and Loan Assistance Tool on farmers.gov.

For more information or to file a Notice of Loss, affected producers should contact their local USDA Service Center as soon as possible.
