2025 Davidson Prize Winners Transform Farming

By Jamie Martin

The agricultural sector celebrated technological achievements at the Commodity Classic 2025 with the presentation of the Davidson Prize.

Named after J.B. Davidson, the prize annually honors notable advancements in agricultural engineering that promise to enhance efficiency and sustainability in farming practices.

This year’s winners showcased innovations that offer solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in agriculture. Bondioli & Pavesi, Inc. received acclaim for their E.D.I. Driveshaft, which not only improves power transmission efficiency but also features real-time monitoring for optimal field performance.

PTx Trimble’s OutRun enhances precision agriculture through advanced guidance and automation, significantly reducing operator fatigue and boosting yields.

CNH America’s IntelliSense™ technology transforms hay and forage harvesting by automating baling functions, which ensures consistent bale quality and enhances productivity.

“These winners exemplify the future of agricultural engineering,” stated Doug Otto, President-Elect of ASABE. This recognition underscores the industry's commitment to innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of farmers globally.

The Davidson Prize, a joint effort by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), serves as a benchmark for innovation in the field.

Starting with the AE50 Awards, which highlight the year’s most innovative designs, the Davidson Prize selects the most impactful technologies.

As the agricultural community continues to embrace technological advancements, the Davidson Prize remains a prestigious accolade, celebrating the best in agricultural engineering and setting the stage for future innovations.
