Judge Stephen Vaden has officially been confirmed by the Senate to serve as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. This appointment is seen as a significant addition to the leadership at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins expressed her support, stating, “The Trump Administration is putting together an all-star team to follow through on the America First mandate sent to Washington. Judge Vaden is a seasoned lawyer and patriot dedicated to putting Farmers First. I welcome his experience serving in the first Trump Administration, and I look forward to him returning to USDA to serve alongside me as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.”
Vaden brings deep legal and agricultural experience to the role. He previously served as General Counsel to the USDA during President first term. His service was marked by strong legal support for key agricultural policies.
In 2020, he was appointed by the administration to the United States Court of International Trade, further strengthening his legal credentials.
Now returning to USDA, his background in law and hands-on farming knowledge will support his new responsibilities.
A native of Union City, Tennessee, Judge Vaden still helps manage his family farm. His personal farming roots give him a strong connection to the issues faced by rural communities and agricultural producers across the country.
With Vaden now confirmed, USDA’s leadership team continues to build on its goal of strengthening the agricultural sector, supporting farmers, and putting American agriculture first.
