Merck Introduces New Swine Vaccine

Merck Introduces New Swine Vaccine

By Jamie Martin

Merck Animal Health announces the availability of Circumvent CL, a ready to use vaccine developed to protect pigs three weeks of age and older from disease caused by Porcine Circovirus Types 2a and 2d and Lawsonia intracellularis. The vaccine is designed to support effective disease prevention while simplifying vaccination practices.

Circumvent CL offers dual protection in a single bottle formulation that requires no mixing or reconstitution. This design helps reduce preparation time and supports consistent vaccine delivery. The product is intended to meet the needs of modern swine health programs that focus on efficiency and accuracy.

The vaccine complements Merck Animal Health’s existing Circumvent product line. Circumvent CL is positioned alongside Circumvent CML, which includes protection against additional disease agents. By removing the mycoplasma component, Circumvent CL supports herds where vaccination for that disease is no longer required, while continuing protection against circovirus and Lawsonia.

“Merck Animal Health is committed to delivering innovative, practical solutions that help veterinarians and producers protect herd health while streamlining on-farm operations,” said Brett O’Brien, V.M.D., swine technical services, Merck Animal Health. “CIRCUMVENT CL provides trusted protection against two of the most significant enteric and systemic disease agents impacting swine production in a ready-to-use formulation. By offering options such as CIRCUMVENT CML and CIRCUMVENT CL, we enable tailored vaccination strategies that simplify vaccine handling and administration.”

Circumvent CL supports flexible herd health decisions by allowing professionals to select vaccines based on disease status and management goals. The product is intended for pigs three weeks of age and older and focuses on protecting against two common and impactful swine diseases.

The vaccine is currently available in 50 dose and 250 dose formats. A 500-dose presentation is planned for release in early 2026. Merck Animal Health continues to expand its portfolio with solutions designed to support animal health, operational efficiency, and disease prevention.
