NAEDA Calls for Steady Renewal of USMCA

By Jamie Martin

The North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA) has expressed strong support for renewing the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA), highlighting its essential role in maintaining trade growth and economic stability across North America. Representing nearly 4,500 farm and industrial equipment dealers, the association submitted comments to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative urging swift renewal.

“The USMCA has proven to be a cornerstone of stability and competitiveness for American farmers, ranchers, and equipment dealers,” said NAEDA CEO, Brett Davis. “We urge U.S. trade officials to reaffirm their commitment to this vital agreement and ensure its renewal without disruption.”

Since its implementation, the USMCA has fueled economic growth. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, overall U.S. exports to Canada and Mexico have surged by 46%. Agricultural exports to Mexico increased by 9.3% annually, while exports to Canada rose by 5.7% between 2019 and 2024.

The association emphasized the importance of zero-tariff access for both manufactured and imported agricultural equipment. Many U.S. dealers depend on the steady flow of machinery and parts from Canada and Mexico, supporting over 120,000 direct jobs nationwide.

“Zero-tariff access has expanded the competitiveness of U.S. agriculture and manufacturing,” said Davis. “The success of our dealers and the farmers they serve depends on the certainty and continuity of this agreement.”

NAEDA urged policymakers to finalize the review and renewal process promptly, ensuring lasting growth and cooperation within the North American agricultural industry.
