Kentucky farmers are embracing innovative technology to boost crop production and efficiency. Drones are used for various tasks, from watering crops to monitoring livestock health. Large drones can cover vast areas quickly, while smaller ones provide close-up inspections.
Beyond the skies, new farming methods are also taking hold. Indoor vertical farming allows farmers to grow produce like lettuce year-round, regardless of the weather. This controlled environment technology provides precise growth conditions and enables remote monitoring.
These advancements are not only increasing yields but also simplifying farm management. Farmers can now collect data, analyze crop health, and make informed decisions from anywhere with an internet connection. As a result, the agriculture industry is becoming more efficient and sustainable.
Additionally, Kentucky State University has secured a $7 million grant to conduct agricultural research focused on climate change and fresh food production. This investment highlights the growing importance of technology and research in the state’s agricultural sector.
