Crofton native leads Shell's KY ag dept.

By Blake Jackson

Incoming Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell has announced key appointments to his leadership team, tapping into both business acumen and legal expertise.

Mark Bowling, a Crofton native and current Laurel County resident, will serve as Chief-of-Staff. Bowling's diverse background includes building a successful small business, managing a farm in northern Christian County, and cultivating strong relationships across the state's agricultural community. Shell highlights Bowling's business and finance experience as invaluable assets in serving Kentucky's agricultural needs.

For the role of General Counsel, Shell has selected Heather Becker. Becker brings a wealth of legal and administrative experience from her current position in the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General. Her diverse skillset will be crucial in providing legal guidance and navigating administrative matters for the department.

Shell's commitment to a strong and dedicated team is evident in these appointments. Bowling's deep connections within the agricultural sector combined with Becker's legal expertise position the department for effective service and policy implementation.

The official swearing-in ceremony for Commissioner Shell will take place on Monday, January 1st, at his home in Lancaster. This will be followed by a public ceremony on Tuesday, January 2nd, at the state capitol in Frankfort.

With a strong team assembled and a focus on serving all corners of Kentucky's agricultural landscape, Commissioner Shell is poised to lead the department into a new era of growth and prosperity.
