Daniel Laurent earned the title of first runner-up in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Outstanding Youth Contest, showcasing his talent and dedication. The contest, held during the 105th annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Convention at the Galt House in Louisville, involved a prepared speech and an interview with a panel of judges.
Laurent qualified for the state-level competition after winning both local and regional contests earlier in the year. Competing against some of the most skilled students in the state, he described his fellow contestants as “the cream of the crop.” His speech at the convention reflected his passion and preparation, which he attributes to his involvement in the Future Farmers of America (FFA).
Laurent is a senior at Caldwell County High School, where he holds several leadership roles, including President of the local FFA Chapter and President of the Pennyrile Region. He is also actively engaged in the 4-H program and participates in his high school’s football and track teams. Laurent believes his experiences in FFA played a key role in developing his public speaking skills and confidence, which helped him excel in the competition.
His achievements highlight his dedication to leadership, agriculture, and community involvement, earning him well-deserved recognition.
