The University of Kentucky Ag Equine Programs will host its annual Farm and Facilities Expo on Thursday, September 5th, at River Mountain Farm in Woodford County.
This free event is open to the public and offers valuable insights for horse farm managers and owners.
The expo will feature a variety of vendor booths showcasing products and services for all aspects of horse farm management. Attendees can also learn from educational talks on arena footing and hay feeding economics.
Staci McGill, from the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, will discuss the pros and cons of different arena footing options.
She will also cover important management practices, such as proper dragging techniques, to maintain arena quality and ensure safety.
Coleman will focus on optimizing hay feeding practices, exploring ways to reduce waste and improve economic efficiency.
Linda McClanahan, the Mercer County agriculture and natural resources extension agent, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: "We are excited to continue this long-standing program that has helped horse farm managers and owners make valuable improvements to their facilities and operations. We encourage everyone interested in equine facilities and operations to attend, visit our vendors, and learn from our extension specialists."
While not required, an RSVP is appreciated for food planning. Please contact the Woodford County extension office at 859-873-4601 to register. A meal will be provided for attendees.
