Corn production in Kentucky is forecast at 203 million bushels, down 26% from the previous crop. Yield was estimated at 153 bushels per acre, down 39 bushels from the 2021 level. Acres for harvest as grain were estimated at 1.33 million acres, down 110,000 acres from 2021. The U.S. corn production is forecast at 13.9 billion bushels, down 8% from 2021. Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 172.3 bushels per acre, down 4.4 bushels from 2021. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 80.8 million acres, down 5% from 2021.
Soybean production for Kentucky is forecast at 98.9 million bushels, down 4% from 2021. Yield was estimated at 51 bushels per acre, down 5 bushels from a year ago. Acreage for harvest as beans was estimated at 1.94 million acres, up 100,000 acres from the previous year. U.S. soybean production is forecast at 4.35 billion bushels, down 3% from last year. Based on November 1 conditions, yields are expected to average 50.2 bushels per acre, down 1.5 bushels from last year. Area for harvest is forecast at 86.6 million acres, up slightly from 2021.
