Calling all hay producers! The University of Kentucky is offering a workshop designed to help you understand the horse market and produce high-quality hay.
"Producing Hay for Horse Markets: Quality Hay Takes Effort" takes place on June 27th at Judge Farms in Carlisle, Kentucky. This hands-on event will equip you with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
"We'll help you learn what horse owners look for in hay and show you how to measure quality," says forage specialist Ray Smith. "You'll also see cutting-edge tech like drone seeding and hear the latest research from UK experts."
The program focuses on practical tips for improving hay quality specifically for horse markets. Topics include:
- Marketing strategies for selling hay to horse owners
- Innovative drone seeding methods for alfalfa fields
- In-field demonstrations on harvesting top-notch hay
James Judge, owner of Judge Farms, will share his experience producing premium alfalfa hay on small, irregular fields. He'll also showcase the latest advancements in drone technology for seeding, spraying, and fertilizing.
