Sustainable strawberry farming comes to Kentucky

Sustainable strawberry farming comes to Kentucky

By Blake Jackson

Ever Tru Farms, a Canadian indoor hydroponic strawberry farm, is expanding into the US market with a new venture in Kentucky.

Bosch Growers, a Dutch company, has acquired AppHarvest's 30-acre berry farm in Somerset, Kentucky, and will partner with Ever Tru Farms to distribute premium strawberries.

Ever Tru Farms says its indoor cultivation process protects the strawberries from harsh weather conditions and allows for a more consistent and reliable supply of high-quality fruit.

Bosch Growers has six decades of experience in indoor berry cultivation. The company says greenhouse horticulture is a more sustainable way to grow strawberries than traditional outdoor farming.

The collaboration between Ever Tru Farms and Bosch Growers aims to provide fresh, locally grown strawberries to consumers in the US and Canada.

Ever Tru Farms will be attending the International Fresh Produce Association's 2023 Global Produce & Floral Show to discuss the expansion.
