Jed Clark, hailing from Graves County, Kentucky, has been named the 2023 KFB Farmer of the Year by the Kentucky Farm Bureau. This prestigious award, presented during the 104th annual meeting at the Galt House in Louisville, recognizes individuals who make significant contributions to the state's agriculture industry and display exemplary leadership both on and off the farm.
Clark has been actively engaged in farming since 1998, with his operations based in Mayfield, Kentucky. He cultivates a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, wheat, and tobacco, covering nearly three thousand acres. In addition to his farming endeavors, he is the owner of Seed Smart LLC, specializing in seed and crop protectants. Within the agricultural community, he is a prominent figure, serving as the President of the Graves County Farm Bureau since 2019.
Jed Clark, alongside his wife Chrissie, is a proud parent of three children. He believes that successful farming transcends long hours and high yields; it involves nurturing the younger generation of farmers, educating consumers, and securing the future of agriculture. Clark has faced challenges, notably the 2021 tornadoes that devastated Mayfield, which forced him to adapt and travel longer distances during harvest while demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity.
