Kentucky Association of Meat Processors Joins American Association, Expanding Network and Industry Support

The American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) has welcomed the Kentucky Association of Meat Processors (KAMP) as its newest affiliate, marking the 30th state and regional association to join. Formed in 2022, KAMP has quickly become an active participant in the industry, aiming to foster better communication, facilitate the exchange of ideas, and establish stronger ties among meat processors operating in Kentucky.

Led by an esteemed board of directors comprising individuals such as John Edwards from Trackside Butcher Shoppe and Chris Milam from Hampton's Premium Meats, KAMP seeks to represent processors across the state and address the challenges facing the industry. With over 100 small meat processors in Kentucky, most of which are family-owned businesses, KAMP's mission is to unify their voice at both state and national levels.

One of KAMP's key initiatives involves addressing the recruitment, training, and retention of employees within the industry. By providing support and resources, KAMP aims to strengthen meat processing businesses in the state and create a cohesive and influential platform. The association is actively involved in regulatory issues, grant funding, workforce development, and other areas impacting Kentucky's meat processing plants.

Through their affiliation with AAMP, KAMP members gain access to a valuable network of industry professionals. Additionally, a collaborative event called the "Bratwurst & Bourbon Tour" is scheduled for September 8-9, in partnership with the Indiana Meat Packers & Processors Association. This unique tour will offer participants the opportunity to visit local meat processors and bourbon distilleries, culminating in a dinner event in Louisville, Kentucky.

KAMP's active participation and partnership initiatives demonstrate their commitment to supporting Kentucky's meat processing industry and their dedication to addressing the needs and interests of processors in the state. By fostering collaboration and providing valuable resources, KAMP aims to bolster the industry's growth and success.
