Kentucky State Fair's AgLand wins National award

Kentucky State Fair's AgLand wins National award

By Blake Jackson

The Kentucky State Fair recently received national recognition from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE).

The Fair's "AgLand" exhibit, a popular interactive display showcasing Kentucky's agricultural heritage and future, earned first place in the agricultural category of Newly Established/Evolving Program.

“Due to lifestyle changes many people don’t have that personal connection to farm life anymore,” Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell said. “Our AgLand exhibit is designed to allow people of all ages to reconnect in a number of small ways. It’s also designed to just be a lot of fun. The team at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture worked hard this year to expand AgLand and create lots of interactive activities for kids and adults. It’s always one of our more popular exhibits at the State Fair.”

AgLand, located in the South Wing during the Fair, features over an acre of interactive exhibits, including obstacle courses, coloring walls, learning centers, and even popcorn stations.

Furthermore, the Fair's Largest Pumpkin and Watermelon Contest received third place in the Agricultural Exhibitor Events and Incentives category.

The Kentucky State Fair, celebrating its 120th year in 2024, competed against top-tier fairs with an average attendance of 500,000 to 1 million visitors.

This year, the Fair achieved a record number of IAFE awards, highlighting its commitment to providing engaging and educational experiences for fairgoers.
