As Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, farms across central Kentucky are gearing up for fall. From corn mazes to pumpkin patches, to flower fields and more, there are plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy the cooler weather and the changing of the seasons.
At Middle Springs Farm in Bourbon County, the Menke family is getting ready to open their "Fall Farm Fun" activities. The farm offers a variety of activities for all ages, including a corn maze, a pumpkin patch, a play area, and a basketball game.
Susie Menke expressed joy in witnessing their hard work materialize and seeing people beyond their family come to enjoy it.
Over in Harrodsburg, Devine's Corn Maze is also planning to open for the season. The farm has a special cause this year, as they are raising awareness for breast cancer. The corn maze design features a pink ribbon, and the pumpkin patch will also be decorated in pink.
"We do have some special friends that are really battling cancer, breast cancer," said Jason Devine, owner of Devine's Corn Maze. "And we want to raise breast cancer awareness this year, and pink October is our theme."
Both Middle Springs Farm and Devine's Corn Maze are open for the fall season from late September through October. These are just two of many farms in central Kentucky that offer fall activities. Be sure to check out your local farm to see what they have to offer.
