Free NRCS webinar - boost your farm sustainability

Free NRCS webinar - boost your farm sustainability

By Blake Jackson

On November 12, 2024, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM ET, a free webinar will be hosted to highlight the support and resources available through the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Since its establishment in 1932, the NRCS has been dedicated to providing farmers with essential technical and financial assistance aimed at safeguarding natural resources on agricultural land.

As the agricultural landscape evolves, NRCS has adapted its programs to better serve smaller and urban working lands, eliminating acreage minimums and increasing payment rates for small-scale operations.

This means that more growers can benefit from various conservation practices, including cover crops, rainwater harvesting, tree and shrub establishment, windbreaks, and pollinator plantings.

During the webinar, participants will gain valuable insights into the specific conservation practices and support available through NRCS.

Conservation and Education Coordinators from the Organic Association of Kentucky (OAK) will join NRCS Urban Conservationist Nathan Lind to discuss technical assistance and financial incentives.

They will also outline practical steps for growers interested in engaging with NRCS and OAK for conservation support. This informative session aims to empower farmers to enhance their sustainable practices and contribute to environmental stewardship in their agricultural endeavors.
