Kentucky grain crops - pest management field day

Kentucky grain crops - pest management field day

By Blake Jackson

The University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture is hosting its annual Pest Management Field Day on June 27th! This event is specifically designed for grain crop producers and industry representatives to learn about the latest strategies in pest management for corn and soybeans.

Due to construction, the day will begin with introductions at 8:30 am at the Princeton First Baptist Church Christian Life Center. After introductions, participants will travel to the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center to explore ongoing research plots. Here, UK Cooperative Extension specialists will showcase their cutting-edge research on managing weeds, diseases, and insects that threaten Kentucky's crops.

"This is a great chance to learn about new and emerging pests," said Travis Legleiter, an extension associate professor. "You'll also get to see firsthand the extensive research being conducted at the University of Kentucky."

The field day concludes around midday, followed by a complimentary lunch back at the Christian Life Center. Pre-registration by June 20th is encouraged to help organizers prepare.

"This event is a valuable opportunity for those involved in grain crops to learn about the latest research and minimize pest damage," said Legleiter. "Staying ahead of these challenges is crucial for the health and productivity of Kentucky's crops."
